Cast and written outside of the gender-binary, this is Shakespeare's Macbeth like you've never seen it before. In the Highlands of medieval Scotland, a Thane and xyr lover are spurred by a group of witches to usurp the throne and become Liege.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
This adaptation of Macbeth aims to allow for the exploration of how motivation does not rely on masculinity and femininity, but instead on the weight of one’s soul. One does not need to be a man to be strong, nor do they need to be a woman to operate with an open heart. This story, like any other, does not need the immovable gender binary to be powerful. We all feel, we all want, and each of us harbours compassion and greed alike within our hearts, no matter the circumstance of our birth.
