LIVE EVENTS
Each semester, AMDA mounts fully-produced Plays, Musicals, and Dance productions as well as Film Projects, Play Readings, Musical Readings. All students, regardless of semester level or registered program, are eligible and encouraged to audition for our fully produced productions and readings. Each production’s process reflects professional industry-standard practices while also providing students an opportunity to perform sustained characters within a fully realized theatrical production. Whether it is through well-established published works (customarily selected for the plays and musicals) or through the creation of original works in a variety of styles (customarily created by faculty, guest, alumni, or sometimes student choreographers for Dance Theatre Concerts) AMDA’s productions reflect a relevance and importance to our students’ artistic and educational exploration.
AMDA Capstone Presentations are designed to provide students in their final semester of training a professional and original production experience. The process begins with auditioning and sampling various combinations of material which leads to the final selections and casting of the show. The work continues with staging and technical rehearsals, all culminating in an artfully crafted, cohesive production designed to showcase each performer as they conclude their AMDA journey and begin the next phase of their professional careers.
